Doctor Who: 11 Worst Costume Disasters Of All Time

3. The Sontarans (The Two Doctors)

This costume is steeped in both awful design and awful continuity, so you can€™t even pull out the final stop and justify it to your less who-loving friends by saying that they always looked that bad. The original Sontaran, Linx in The Time Warrior, was so brilliantly evil looking that people even remember his dumb sci-fi-random-name-generator name. Here however, the dark colours and tones of their skin have been replaced with a light brown, much as you€™d find on an Ikea coffee table. Furthermore, they€™re wrapped in cellophane rather than leather, so that they look like more like a deformed toffee than an alien menace. They€™re also tall now, perhaps there was a massive shift in the economic stock markings of midget actors in the ten years in between due to the success of Warwick Davies in Star Wars, who went on to lead a midget revolution with thousands of midget actors descending upon the BBC television centre demanding huge paychecks on pain of death. Or maybe they just didn€™t give enough of a damn enough to try to make them scary anymore. Watching this story, that€™s probably it.
