Doctor Who: 12 Annoying Characters, Companions And Villains

4. Henry Van Statten

Henry Van Statten The owner of the Internet and collector of all things alien, from the episode Dalek. Avaricious, self-absorbed, thoughtless and an all-round nasty piece of work. He thinks nothing of wiping the memories of a staff member should they displease him, and keeps the "Metaltron" in his museum basement to be constantly tortured. If you thought you couldn't pity a Dalek and you haven't watched Dalek then I suggest you watch it as soon as possible. Van Statten cares nothing for the feelings of anybody around him - much less the feelings of his "little pet" (such as a Dalek can ever have feelings). On discovering that The Doctor can get the Dalek to talk, Van Statten makes The Doctor his next experiment and project. Meanwhile, Rose convinces Adam to take her down to "The Cage", where she touches the Dalek out of sympathy and inadvertently causes a catastrophic chain of events. Van Statten allows the Dalek to escape, killing over two hundred personel by his actions. I doubt that anybody is sorry when Diana Goddard has the mind of this odious, selfish, obnoxious individual wiped and has him dumped as a homeless brainless junkie "Somewhere beginning with S". Henry Van Statten is an obnoxious cretin and he gets what he deserves. He is easily the most cringeworthy character in an otherwise incredible episode.
