4. Gallifrey Is Still Missing
This one wasn't really relevant to the overriding narrative but it's worth pointing out nonetheless. Christmas has come and gone and the Doctor is still no closer to finding Gallifrey. Perhaps he should stop dabbling in dreams and actually get out there and start looking for it? He hasn't been trying very hard thus far. For now, though, let's just assume that the episode's ominous final shot of the tangerine is a suggestion that its return is on its way in Series 9. Not because the Time Lords love citrus fruits but because it looks like it, don't you think? Mise-en-scène and all that. Is there such a thing as over analysing? A more likely theory, of course, is that the tangerine - which the Doctor previously claimed nobody likes - represents Santa who in turn represents who the Doctor has to thank for his second chance with Clara. But the Gallifrey theory is much more interesting. At least Clara knows the Doctor was lying about finding Gallifrey now so she'll be able to aid him on his quest to locate his home planet and restore it to its former glory. She played a big part in its comeback so it's only right that she gets to see it for itself. Oh, yeah. Clara's not leaving, by the way, which brings us to...
