Doctor Who: 13 Cool Details In David Tennant & John Barrowman's Last Of The Time Lords Commentary

1. Martha's Brother Was Removed From The Story

Despite not being as well-developed as Rose's family was, we do get to spend a good chunk of time with Martha's family throughout Series 3.

We meet her mother Francine, her father Clive, and her siblings Leo and Tish, and out of those four, it's definitely Leo who we get to know the least.

Not that this is a bad thing - the Doctor Who fandom is hardly crying out for more Leo Jones material - but for those who found the character's lack of screen time odd, there were actually plans to use him a lot more throughout the finale.

As the episode comes to a close and Leo can be seen through the window of Martha's house (on the right-hand-side of the image above), Tennant mentions that he had to be taken "out of the story" because actor Reggie Yates was double-booked.

Agyeman adds that Leo was supposed to be in the opening beach scene of Last Of The Time Lords (where Martha meets Milligan), as well as "a little bit more" of the episode. But alas, all we got in the end... was a glimpse of him through a window.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
