Doctor Who: 5 Reasons The Twelfth Doctor's Screwdriver Should Regenerate
5. Eleven's Screwdriver Has Lost Its "Coolness"
Decked in a bow tie, Stetson and Fez, the Doctor is ready to rumble in a rickety ride through the time vortex. But not without his sophisticated, green luminescent, humming, metallic, Time Lord contraption. The paragon of coolness, and not only because of its size, but also for its extendability. Perhaps the most tantalising feature of Eleven's screwdriver is its tendency to extend and retract with a flick of the hand. Whenever the Doctor probes the area for any abnormal readings, the screwdriver popping out of its encasement with a quick jerk just makes a satisfying *click* that even Star Trek's tricorder can't replicate. Now that the renowned sonic gizmo has been entrusted to Peter Capaldi, it's finally his turn to emit sonic blasts of coolness toward any casual passerby within the vicinity of his pointed and primed screwdriver. Sadly, the Scottish Time Lord has drifted away from flicking it open and the action only made sporadic appearances throughout his early escapades. Clara still kept the spirit of Matt Smith alive when she snapped open his screwdriver while impishly grinning at a disgruntled Doctor inside a miniaturised TARDIS. Eleven would be proud of his impossibly cool-looking impossible girl.
Anna is an aspiring writer who has an incurable obsession with Doctor Who. When she is not writing about Doctor Who, she's watching favorite episodes and contemplating what to write next. When she's writing about Doctor Who, she anticipates her reward: watching yet another Doctor Who episode. She also manages to read science fiction (especially Ray Bradbury), recite lines from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and make terrible puns in her free time (she likes to imagine she has great puntential, though)
