Doctor Who: 8 Jon Pertwee Serials You Need To Revisit In January

5. The Mind Of Evil (1971)

You guessed it. January 1971 was another month with five Saturdays which allows Mind of Evil to take its rightful place on this list. It's not so much that Mind of Evil is a bad story - it€™s just not the best vehicle for the Master. Instead of rehashing those arguments, though, let€™s talk about what€™s worth celebrating in this story. Among those things are a Chinese character (and a woman, no less) presented less as a stereotype and more like a fully-fleshed character (despite the incidental music going €œall Chinesey", to quote Cheryl from Archer), the Master spending his down time by listening to experimental rock music and a fairly terrifying alien menace that you never actually get to see properly. Perhaps that last one should have come first but it€™s really all the little bits in this story that makes it worth your while, not so much the main plot. Even a lesser Delgado story is worth sitting through.
