Doctor Who: 8 Mistakes That Series 13 NEEDS To Fix
5. The Doctor's Personality
What makes the Thirteenth Doctor different from any of the other doctors? Is she angrier than them? More playful? More calculating?
Nobody seems to have any idea, least of all Chris Chibnall. And if he does know what defines his version of the Doctor, he doesn’t seem to be very good at communicating that to his writers.
Thirteen’s personality and values seem to change from episode to episode. A particularly infamous example is her declaration in Series 11’s ‘Arachnids in the UK’ that she loves conspiracies. And then she remarks how much she hates conspiracies just three episodes later in ‘Kerblam!’.
Series 12 made baby steps towards fixing this, with the Doctor’s speech about how alone she is when it comes to making tough decisions in ‘The Haunting of Villa Diodati’ being a genuine glimpse of greatness.
But the audience needs more than just glimpses if they’re going to see this Doctor as more than just a pale imitation as the ones who came before her.
