37. Wish World/The Reality War
The Fifteenth Doctor’s second finale makes for an exciting watch, thanks to stuff like UNIT battling the Bone Beasts and the Doctor zooming around on a scooter. But it’s also deeply flawed.
Wish World gets things off to an ok if undercooked start, but The Reality War just has far too much going on.
Kate calling everyone the Doctor’s “children”, Belinda being lumbered with a baby she never asked for (after spending the entire middle act trapped in a box), Omega returning as a giant CGI skeleton who sticks round for all of three minutes, the Doctor regenerating into Billie Piper... it's a big old mess, full of characters stood in rooms delivering exposition without any of the spark and punch that typified RTD's 2005-era finales.
As the end point of the Fifteenth Doctor’s era, and NuWho as whole, it feels like a bad joke.
