Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
38. Space Babies
Yes, it really is that bad.
Two years on, the decision to launch Doctor Who’s big Disney era with talking babies, the companion temporarily becoming a butterfly, a farting space station and a Bogeyman made of actual bogeys remains utterly baffling. What the hell were they thinking?
Space Babies is basically just a rehash of stories like The Ark in Space or Smile, with the leads getting to know each other a bit better as they explore a deserted outer space environment.
But the cringeworthy elements really drag it down. And even without them it’s all just so bland and run of the mill and unoriginal, with a twist you can see coming a mile off (the Bogeyman’s not actually evil!).
Just think: if he’d got this one right RTD might still have been writing for the show now. Instead, the writing was on the wall from the very beginning.
