Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Love & Monsters
Ok, put down those pitchforks!
Enough time has passed. Love & Monsters is good actually.
Like the best Doctor-lite stories, it has something to say – about the impact the Doctor brings people together (and, by extension, the way Doctor Who does the same).
Because LINDA is quite clearly inspired by Doctor Who fans. And the Abzorbaloff by that one fan who ruins everything for everyone else.
Yes, there’s daft stuff in there. “Victor” pretending to have a ec-ze-ma. His later remark that Ursula tastes like chicken. Elton having “a bit of a love life” with a paving slab. But come on, it’s funny!
Plus we get to spend more time with Jackie Tyler, which is always a good thing. The stuff with Elton’s mum is really moving. And the soundtrack (both the ELO songs and the original stuff) absolutely slaps.
Don’t be a spoilsport like Victory Kennedy. There’s so much to enjoy!
