Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
5. The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End
RTD1 might have ended with The End of Time.
But it culminated with The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End – an epic Dalek invasion story that brought back every Series 1–4 companion and crossed over with The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood.
It also brought the era’s Dalek stories to a head, with returns for Dalek Caan and Davros, alongside a red and gold Supreme Dalek (which, at the time, was just the coolest thing ever).
Then there’s THAT cliffhanger.
As with The Giggle, the resolution relies on a magical duplicate Doctor. But on this occasion there is at least a through line – the Time Lord/human meta-crisis only happens because the Doctor’s hand was chopped off all those episodes ago.
And frankly, it’s such a thrilling, celebratory story that stuff like that gets a pass. No subsequent era has come close to bringing things as full circle as this.
