Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday
The Series 2 finale gave us the first ever Dalek/Cyberman showdown, before one of the most heartbreaking companion exits ever.
It’s not hard to see why Rose’s farewell traumatised a generation. Billie Piper completely sells it, and the soundtrack is unreal.
RTD also did a great job writing out Jackie, allowing her to finally reunite with her husband. The moment she meets Pete is just perfect, and her pretending to not worry about how rich he is is a great gag.
The Daleks and Cybermen are secondary to all this, but we do still get the iconic scene in the corridor of them insulting each other, plus the thrilling visuals of the Cybermen raiding people’s homes and countless Daleks flying through the sky.
20 years on and Army of Ghosts/Doomsday is still totally thrilling, desperately sad, and as effective as it was in 2006.
