Doctor Who: Every Russell T Davies Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
33. The Robot Revolution
Ncuti Gatwa’s second season opener was a definite improvement over his first. But it failed to make much of a lasting impression.
The Robot Revolution’s strongest aspect is probably its production design. Ok, the Missbelindachandrabots are quite generic. But their planet looks absolutely stunning – like something out of a Star Wars show. And the cyborg Alan is seriously creepy.
The trouble is, there’s just too much going on plot-wise.
Al summons Belinda to Missbelindachandra One… but he’s only there in the first place because of a remark she made on her journey over, and a time fracture which resulted in Al being installed as leader ten years earlier.
Oh, and because of the same time fracture, the Doctor has been there for six months prior to Belinda’s arrival.
Fair play to RTD for trying, but maybe just leave the timey wimey stuff to Steven Moffat, hey?
