Doctor Who Flux: 10 Huge Questions After Survivors Of The Flux

4. Is Osgood Coming Back For The Finale?

The first person Kate Stewart calls when she goes dark is fan favourite Petronella Osgood. There are actually two of them, one Zygon and one human (The Zygon Inversion), but they refused to say which is which last time the Doctor saw them. One of them does say she will answer it one day, suggesting a sequel that has yet to be played out in the TV series.

With that somewhat complicated and unresolved story hanging over the character, it’s possible she could return and the question of which one we see ignored. But Kate has gone dark, breaking any hope that she could be contacted by Osgood when she destroys her phone. She can’t trust anyone else in UNIT right now, because who knows just how far the Grand Serpent’s influence lies.

More likely, a scenario will be set up for the full blown recommissioning of UNIT by the end of the finale and we might be treated to a small cameo by Ingrid Oliver. This could be a set up for one or more of the specials to be aired 2022 to bring to an end Jodie Whittaker’s stint as the Doctor. A return of the Zygons to revisit that story will no doubt have crossed Chris Chibnall’s mind.
