Doctor Who: Looking Back At The Alternate Doctors

7. Jackson Lake

david morrisey doctor whoWho Played Him? David Morrissey When Did He Appear? The 2008 Christmas Special The Next Doctor Even though he was partly used as a cheap ratings grab like the Regeneration that spawned the Meta-Crisis Doctor was, Jackson Lake still proved to be a very likeable and engaging character. The Tenth Doctor investigating who he is and why he thinks he€™s the Doctor is a great narrative thread in a mediocre episode and he actually makes a great companion. Especially since he€™s gradually built up as a character in his own right while most alternate Doctors bear a large number of similarities to the established Doctors. While the Jackson Lake €˜Doctor€™ does bear a few similarities to the Tenth Doctor, his persona literally being a combination of everything the Cybermen know about the Doctor helps to create something new, which allows for a relatively fresh take on the Doctor. Morrissey did such a great job playing this faux-Doctor that I€™m continually hoping that he really will be the next Doctor.
