Doctor Who: Matt Smith's 10 Greatest Moments

6. The Wedding of River Song - Teselecta Eye Wide Shut

River Song I hope you appreciated the Kubrickian pun as much as I did. The season finale of the completely bizarre 6th season has Eleven marrying River Song, moments before he is to travel back into a fixed point in time and be killed by a mysterious astronaut (a programmed River Song). However, the Teselecta, the time-traveling police force of small people that I mentioned earlier owed the Doctor a favor, and at the end of the episode, they transform their ship to look like the Doctor, and miniaturize the Doctor inside of the eye of the Teselacta Doctor, which is the origin of my Kurbickian pun. River looks into the eye of the Teselacta Doctor, and the image of Eleven jumping for joy inside the eye of a larger version of himself is something magical, his proverbial winning speech to the enemies of the season. And if there€™s one thing I love more than the Doctor not knowing how to win, it€™s the Doctor winning. Victories are beautiful in this universe, and this one of the most beautiful ones we€™ve seen yet.
