1. Nothing is Worth the Name of the Doctor
Episode: The Name Of The Doctor And finally, what is in my opinion, the darkest Doctor moment since series 1. With their backs against the wall, the Doctor and his companions are cornered by The Great Intelligence (TGI). Unable to get into the Doctor's tomb, TGI demands the Doctor reveal his name, as it is the only way the tomb's doors will open. But when Eleven refuses, push comes to shove and TGI orders his terrifying henchmen to kill the Doctor's friends. You would think the Doctor would cave in here, right? Like any normal protagonist would. When you consider the amount of times the Doctor has absolutely lost it whenever his friends are placed in danger, then this is a no-brainer. But the Doctor doesn't even flinch, and he still refuses to give up his name. And it's not like these are just new people he's just picked up. Clara, Strax, Jenny, and Vastra have a long history with the Doctor, and it's scary to think that their screams didn't phase him. River Song ends up saving the day, but it's too late. We know where the Doctor's companions stand.
