The Eighth Doctor
The Best Companion: Dr Grace Holloway As a one off companion, I quite liked Grace. Shes very American (a real American Peritake notice!) but shes got attitude, intelligence and got stuck in saving the world. She seemed very eager to follow the Doctor and would have made an interesting dynamic with the Eighth if we had had more on screen adventures with them together. I enjoyed her scenes in the New Year as they attempted to steal the beryllium atomic clock and staring the Tardis with one second to midnight, thwarting the resurrected Masters plans. She might have only had one story, but she saved the world. And that starts to make up for accidentally killing the Seventh Doctor whilst carrying out open-heart surgery on him!
The Runner Up: There isnt onethough Lucie Miller
Lucie who? The trouble is, with one TV movie to his credit (this might be a recurring theme of all my classic Doctor Who articles bring Paul McGann back) there arent any other companions to choose from. However, I have started some of the audio adventures and Sheridan Smiths Lucie Miller is rather good, sharing a great dynamic with the Doctor. Perhaps if they bring him back to Doctor Who, Lucie can hitch a ride too?
