Mumblecore filmmaking legend Joe Swanberg is the latest creative talent to turn to Netflix, with this eight-episode romantic dramedy anthology series exploring the ins and outs of the human connection across a huge spectrum.
With a stupendous cast including Elizabeth Reaser, Dave Franco, Marc Maron, Emily Ratajkowski, Orlando Bloom, Malin Åkerman, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jane Adams, Jake Johnson and Hannibal Buress to name just a few, Swanberg straddles his project firmly between his oft-esoteric, oft-improvised dialogues and something broader, even if the show will naturally appeal most to fans of his film work.
Not all of the episodes land with the same impact as is to be expected from any anthology project, but more often than not Swanberg manages to touch on some achingly human truth.
