Every American Horror Story Season Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Murder House
The very first season of American Horror Story set the foundation for the future stories, and is one of the biggest reasons the show has as big a following as it does today. If this season hadn't have gained the popularity it did, there would be nowhere near the nine seasons it has enjoyed so far.
Based around the Harmon family and their move across the country, Ben, Vivian, and Violet moved into the titular building without any clue of the horrors they would endure. Though these are certainly the main characters, there are many more stories throughout the first 12 episodes of the show.
Constance and her highly dysfunctional family, including Evan Peters as Tate Langdon, feature heavily, as well as previous owners Chad and Patrick, and the fascinating effect Moira has on Ben.
While some of the later seasons may have embraced the horror aspect less than before, Murder House certainly earned the title of horror story, from a teenage serial killer, to ghosts and the supernatural, and death at every turn. It is no surprise that the decision to return to the house in Apocalypse was such a popular one.
