Every Black Mirror Episode Ranked Worst To Best
11. White Christmas
Proof that not all TV Christmas specials have to cheery affairs, Black Mirror's White Christmas is basically Black Museum - only much more effective and in command of its tricky themes.
Digging into three increasingly dark and well-formed stories courtesy of mysterious protagonists Matt (Jon Hamm) and Joe (Rafe Spall), the episode focusses on the pair's fraught pasts as a bigger mystery begins to form around them.
With striking assessments of technology and its place in our society, White Christmas' main strength lies firmly with its actors, who both create equally troubled but strangely sympathetic (or at least understandable) characters. It also sports enough twists to fill an entire season of Black Mirror, and not one of them feels rushed, forced, or unearned.
White Christmas is about as dark as Black Mirror has ever gone, and the results - from the unsettling performances to the macabre final fate of its flawed protagonists - are just to die for.
