Every Black Mirror Episode Ranked Worst To Best

The longest episode of Black Mirror, season three's Hated in the Nation could have easily fallen victim to its intimidating runtime, but pushed passed any worries with a timely and often brutal assessment of social media culture, government surveillance and environmentalism.

In it, detectives Karin (Kelly Macdonald) and Blue (Faye Marsay) uncover a large conspiracy linked to a vast social media trend and deadly drones. As they race to save the day, both detectives come face-to-face with a world they never knew existed.

Hated in the Nation works first and foremost as a slick and powerful detective story, but eventually becomes unsettlingly informed by real-life social media issues, populist personalities and improbable conspiracy theories.

It sports spectacular effects and an air of unpredictability, and though it doesn't end with quite the punch it should have, Hated in the Nation remains one of Black Mirror's most enduring and accomplished episodes.
