9. Zarbon
Zarbon is one of Frieza's highest ranking officers alongside Dodoria. At first glance, it is clear that he takes pride in his appearance. On top of his looks, Zarbon boasts an incredible intelligence, which he uses to outsmart his enemies and manipulate those around him.
It's thanks to Zarbon that we see our first transformation of the series. While we have seen multiple Great Ape forms, we haven't seen a controlled and willing transformation to gain strength, and Zarbon's is memorable.
He pulls out the transformation in a fight with Vegeta, and it turns him from a gorgeous man to a hideous beast. This is enough for him to beat down Vegeta and cast him aside. However, Frieza orders Zarbon to take him to a rejuvenation chamber to be revived so he can tell them where he hid a Dragon Ball.
After being healed, Vegeta squares off with Zarbon again and easily defeats him. Vegeta reveals to Zarbon that Saiyans grow stronger with every battle and near-death experience.
This is why he was able to power up so much to defeat Zarbon. This is where's Zarbon's true purpose in the show lies, to show the viewer just how much a Saiyan can grow in power during battle.
