8. The Pacific (2010)
Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, The Pacific takes at look at World War II's Pacific Theatre, in which some of the wars most deadly campaigns took place. Starring the likes of James Badge Dale, Joseph Mazzello and Rami Malek, the 10-part series attempts to look passed the violence at more at the heroes who fought on the battlefield.
Though The Pacific isn't quite as good as its companion series Band of Brothers, its technical achievements and switched focus to the war with Japan make it in many ways just as effective and emotionally profound, painting a picture of war with startling results.
