Every Star Trek Reference, Easter Eggs & Jokes In The Simpsons

In the November 2008 episode titled MyPods and Boomsticks, Bart befriends a Muslim boy by the name of Bashir while fleeing customers at a local Mapple store. While the episode focuses on quite a controversial topic, with Lenny, Carl, and Moe convincing Homer that all Muslims are terrorists, there is still room for a sly Star Trek reference too.

Lisa, who has become obsessed over her new MyPod, heads down to Mapple's underseas headquarters to meet Steve Mobbs. If you listen closely, you'll notice that the doors to the headquarters open with the same swoosh sound as the doors in Star Trek: The Original Series. There's no real reason as to why this is the case, but it makes for a neat reference once you hear it.
