Every Star Trek Reference, Easter Eggs & Jokes In The Simpsons

Somehow, Homer Simpson of all people gets employed by NASA in the season five episode, Deep Space Homer.

As you can tell, the title itself is an obvious Star Trek reference, following in the footsteps of the Deep Space Nine series, but the references continue throughout the episode. For reference, Homer has prank called NASA in this episode, although he is later chosen by NASA to be taken into space as a means of improving their Neilsen ratings. After first blaming the call on Barney, both men are taken into the training regime once Homer realises the whole story.

Anyway...

Homer fights Barney in the Triskelion arena, with the background music being the famous Star Trek fight music while one of the administrators from NASA wails out "quatloos on the newcomer" - the typical betting money used on the planet Triskelion.

Meanwhile, the Itchy and Scratchy skit in this episode is titled Scar Trek: The Next Laceration. There are no actual Star Trek references within this, other than a) the obvious pun title, and b) that it takes place in space.
