Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 3
Has the mysterious Power Broker already been revealed?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was originally supposed to be the MCU's first foray into the world of Disney+, however reshuffles in the schedule eventually lumbered the series with the unenviable task of having to follow WandaVision. Even with the heightened expectations that came from this, the show is surpassing every expectation.
The end of episode three marked the halfway point of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and though three episodes is not a long time, the series has already been absolutely packed from the start. That being said, the story is still wide open enough that the second half could take any direction.
There are however, several clues that were laid down by the third chapter, suggesting that there could be some big twists and turns before the series is through. As Sam and Bucky dig deeper into the Flag Smashers, the story, and the series in general, has simply got better and better, and it's fair to say this pattern could continue until the very end.
This episode also answered one of the series' biggest mysteries, while furthering another, and gave fans a comic accurate costume they have wanted to see on screen ever since Captain America: Civil War. This was yet another strong showing from the MCU on Disney+, and has fans salivating at the prospect of what is yet to come.
10. Baron Zemo's Mask
Behind the Red Skull, Helmut Zemo is arguably Captain America's second greatest foe from the comics, however when he was introduced in Civil War, the MCU made several big changes to him.
The character was from Sokovia, whereas his comic book counterpart was German, he was given a new motivation to hate the Avengers, and he was without his trademark purple mask. It was more important to portray him as a normal man who had lost everything than as a maniacal super-villain at this point.
However, episode three of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finally gave fans of the franchise what they'd been after for years. As Sam, Bucky, Sharon, and Zemo were attacked by bounty hunters in Madripoor, the latter donned his infamous mask and fought back, killing several men in the process.
It's currently unknown the exact reasoning behind the mask in the confines of the MCU, but this will surely be revealed before the end of the series, and will likely be completely different to the comics. As well as the classic look, Marvel Studios also gave the character his classic name, finally addressing him as Baron Zemo, revealing his title and the money that allowed him and his new teammates to travel the world so easily.
