Falcon And The Winter Solider- ALL Easter Eggs From Episode 1 Explained
1. Bucky Is Haunted By His Military Past
Another throwback to our beloved Steve could easily have been overlooked, and comes when we see that Bucky sleeps on the floor of his apartment. Some people may recall a conversation shared between the two heroes, where they discussed that after their time in the military they found it hard to sleep on proper pillows and mattresses.
When Bucky awakes from his nightmare he is on the floor, covered in a blanket with what appears to be a sofa cushion as a pillow. We see that he continues to battle with his trauma, but that he is doing his best to work through it by making his amends and making himself comfortable in his life wherever he can. There's a lot of deep stuff going on here!
Some people are saying that, in a way, this show might end up being a bit of a character study. It’s easy to dismiss that because of the classic Marvel action aspects, but when you really look at what the first episode just served us, there’s definitely potential for a lot of character-building. Our two central characters both have a lot of personal stuff to deal with and very important work to do at the same time, which makes things very hard for them both.
We looked at trauma, loss, the stress and financial hardship in the post-blip world, friendship and redemption; sure it wasn’t all in ocean-deep detail but in just one episode we opened lots of cans of worms. As the story plays out and we get to see more of the characters and their interactions just not with each-other but introspection on themselves, this could be a really revealing series.
