Fear The Walking Dead: 6 Reasons To Be Excited

3. Fresher Walkers

All the way back in season one, a number of walkers exhibited a form of intelligence that has only dwindled over the years. From using rocks to try and smash in the doors of the department store in Atlanta to climbing up and over a fence as Glenn and Rick attempted to commandeer an escape truck to generally moving a lot faster, walkers exhibited abilities that their more recent, older counterparts don't tend to.

If the walkers have simply become more mindless thanks to their state of decay, diminishing their instinct and ability to climb and use tools with each passing season, then that concept provides Fear with a great jumping off point with its walkers. Unlike many of the random walkers that have been undead for long periods by the time Rick and company encounter them, the walkers in Fear will all be fresh, so to speak, benefiting from the lasting cognition provided by their recent deaths.

It's doubtful that they would outright be able to run, as we've seen people turn on The Walking Dead and not retain that ability, but they will be able to move much faster. Throw in the return of their lingering intelligence and the sheer number of walkers roaming the streets of Los Angeles could offer the series a more cunning threat - and one that could explain how they overran the world a bit easier - than the shuffling rotters we've grown accustomed to over the past few years.
