Fear The Walking Dead - 8 Talking Points From The Premiere
5. The Search For Nick
Returning to the church doesn't yield any clues to Nick's whereabouts, but it serves as a stark reality check for Madison, who comes face to face with just how far her son has sunk into the abyss. Phone calls go unanswered and the couple then go and seek out Nick's friend, Calvin. They come upon the young man in the midst of cleaning a minivan, and inquire about their son's whereabouts. Calvin wasn't aware of Nick's accident, and states that he hasn't seen him in a while and doesn't have any idea where he'd go. We get the sense that these two were close once upon a time, before the horrors of addiction broke their friendship apart. The next scene is Nick wandering the streets of LA with a newly purchased burner phone, making a desperate plea for someone to call him back. Now that he's a free man again is he looking to score? Meanwhile Travis and Madison ride the streets, and the mother comes to the realization that she might not actually want her son to come home. Her frustration is overwhelming and she confesses that she's tired of waiting on the call from the morgue to tell her her son is gone.
