The Flash: 19 Easter Eggs And References You Have To See
5. The Weather Wizard
That's been a lot of speculation about future superheroes and villains that could crop up throughout the show's run, but how about the metahumans that actually appeared in The Flash's pilot? Well funnily enough, Clyde Mardon is another character that was ripped straight from the page, although in a somewhat altered form. In his TV appearance he's a petty thief whose loot is rendered obsolete when his escape plane is struck down with one of the bolts of lightning that also empowered Barry Allen. Mardon is presumed dead - as you would presume somebody whose plane was struck by lightning and subsequently exploded would be - only for him to reappear soon after, robbing banks in Central City using his new skill set. Which is control of the weather or, as one innocent bystander inelegantly explained, "he made the inside like outside". Clyde is a member of The Flash's rogues gallery, in the comic taking on the much goofier name of The Weather Wizard and dressing up in green spandex and yellow shades rather than the low-key get up he wears in the pilot. What's also interesting is that, in the comics, it's actually Clyde's brother Mark that's blessed with superpowers - and Clyde is one of his first victims. Which could mean that the accomplice in that initial robbery was said brother, and that Clyde wasn't the only Mardon brother to survive that plane crash...and he may want revenge for what The Flash did with that anti-hurricane trick.
