5. Varys Kills Kevan
Ah, Varys. One of the biggest players of the Game of Thrones, a spider spinning vast webs, with little birds flocking to him, and never a clear motive. He claims to want peace for the Seven Kingdoms, but thus far most of his actions have tended to cause chaos. This is particularly the case at the end of A Dance with Dragons, when Kevan Lannister is doing everything he can to restore some semblance of order to King's Landing in the wake of Cersei's Walk of Shame. Summoned to Maester Pycelle's chambers, he finds that the Maester has already been killed, and then Varys shoots him with a crossbow, stating that he cannot allow him to undo Cersei's misrule, before having his little birds finish him off. The reason he does this, though, is part of his larger plan to install Aegon Targaryen, the son of Prince Rhaegar, to the Iron Throne. Whether or not Aegon is actually a real Targ or not is another matter, but in terms of the show the reason this won't work is because Aegon hasn't been introduced. Varys is supporting the claim of Daenerys, and while he could theoretically perform the act in her name instead, it's less likely because she's nowhere close to getting to Westeros, while Varys himself ended last year in Meereen rather than King's Landing.
