Game Of Thrones: 15 Best Ever Episodes

6. The Watchers Of The Wall (S4 E9)

Season 4 had a real hot streak running through it, with its Episode 9 offering providing the closest episode to pure cinema since the show began. The entire hour was dedicated to the Wall, with Sam Tarly the focal point of the episode along with Jon. The visuals were immense and the scale of the situation was shown in all of its glory with the fire. The episode also brought the inner 10-year-old out of every fan with four words: Giant. Riding. A mammoth. Like, that was just downright awe-inspiring and brought the fantasy element of the show to life. There was also the giant's bow shot, the grand scythe being slashed across the wall, and the outstanding 360 degree Castle Black fight scene to savour, while Jon's ending with Ygritte was tough to watch. The writers took a risk in dedicating so much time to the Wall, but it was 100% justified by the episode itself.
