12. The Gift (S5 E7)

The Gift didn't contain a huge-scale battle or constant fast-paced drama, but it did provide some outstanding performances across the cast, and set up the remaining trio of episodes gorgeously as Jorah wormed his way back into grabbing the attention of Daenerys and bore the gift of Tyrion Lannister to her. Seeing Daenerys and Tyrion in the same shot was a bizarre, yet brilliant, moment for the pair who have been featured since the very beginning but never met. The episode could have ended there, but it sailed across to King's Landing for a verbal showdown between the High Sparrow and Cersei. The latter's smug grin after leaving Margaery to rot in the dungeon was swiftly inverted and Cersei was dragged away to the cells. It was a tremendous moment and signalled a huge downturn in her fortunes after almost five seasons of being at the top.
