Game Of Thrones: 8 Times The Show Went Too Far

1. When Littlefinger Delivered A Sinister Monologue To Two Naked Prostitutes

This scene from the season one episode You Win Or You Die is one of the first instances of controversy the show ever encountered. Hard to believe there used to be a world in which Game Of Thrones controversies were a relatively new thing, but it existed nevertheless. For all the terrific work Aidan Gillen has put into the portrayal of the scheming Littlefinger, many fans have accused him of portraying the character as a much more cartoonish villain than he is in the books. One of the earliest examples takes place in this episode, during which Littlefinger gives a villainous monologue while training two whores for his brothel. The scene features gratuitous shots of the women as he €œtutors€ them on how to be prostitutes, lingering for long amounts of time on their naked bodies while he talks about his sinister, nefarious and completely unrelated schemes. After the episode aired, many critics were baffled by the large amount of what was soon coined €œsexposition€. Though the show features a whole lot of sex, this was the first and most prominent example of it being completely and utterly unnecessary. Agree with this list?
