House of the Dragon
HBO

While the ending may have divided fans and critics alike, Game of Thrones consistently received rave reviews for its stunning costume design, winning multiple Emmy awards. The costume team behind House of the Dragon look to be determined to carry on that success.

Early set photos show an impressive array of new house designs and garments while still remaining true to the formula that made the original costumes such a hit. Production photos and the trailer have revealed hints in the costume design at the infamous Green and Black factions that eventually become the combatants in the Dance of Dragons through glimpses at Olivia Cooke’s Alicent Hightower and Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra Targaryen.

They have also given viewers the first glimpse at the famous Targaryen platinum blonde wigs as sported by Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones, now adorning the heads of new stars Matt Smith and Paddy Considine. Jany Temime, known for her work on the Harry Potter series and Skyfall is the designer behind the show and Matt Smith has already extensively sung her praises regarding her work on House of the Dragon in an interview given with Looper. Time will tell how House of the Dragon is received but the costumes appear set to dazzle once again.
