Game Of Thrones Prequel: Everything You Need To Know About Fire And Blood
3. It's A Six-Part Tale About Seven Kings
As touched on in the previous entry, the way Fire and Blood is written could give some indication as to how the show is structured. This entry will avoid any story spoilers, but will include the names of the various kings covered in the book. If you don’t want to know this information, it would be best to skip ahead to the next entry.
Fire and Blood tells six different tales, of various lengths, which cover the reigns of the first seven Targaryen kings. Starting with Aegon I, the book moves on to cover him, Aenys I, Maegor I, Jaehaerys I, Viserys I, Aegon II and Aegon III. Jaehaerys I and Aegon II & III all have considerably lengthier coverage that the others.
This suggests a few ways that House of The Dragon could be structured. Each king could be given a season for their reign, however this would require a lot of additional writing, when you consider that Game of Thrones initially had a book per season. Or, far more likely, these tales will be told over one or two seasons, with intentions to finish the series upon release of the second book.
Now, this cannot be reiterated enough: PLEASE FINISH THAT BOOK FIRST.
