4. It's The First Of Two Books
One important point to note about Fire and Blood is that it’s the first book of what is planned to be a two book series.
Standing at 989 words, this first edition was released in April 2018 as half of the history of the Targaryen kings. However, given Martin’s reputation for leaving fans waiting, you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for this tale’s conclusion. Seeing as the original book series is far from finished, with the next edition seemingly in no hurry to release, we should be surprised we even got the first part of this spin-off when we did.
The reason this point is important in relation to House of The Dragon is that it effects how the show can be structured. Whether the show releases a season per reign, or perhaps offers a few episodes for each king (in order for the first season to cover the entire Fire and Blood book) fans will hope that the second book releases ahead of the rest of the show.
Game of Thrones fans are painfully aware of what can happen when a TV series runs ahead of its source material. So, PLEASE George R R Martin, if you’re determined to do this series, write the damn book.
