8. Littlefinger's Scheming
The series has its fair share of schemers and manipulative individuals, with spymaster Varys chief amongst them, but Seasons 3 and 4 will see the conniving Littlefinger turn proceedings up to eleven. Having already secured himself a lordship at the end of Season 2 by securing the support of House Tyrell for the throne, he orchestrates the death of Joffrey to send the seven kingdoms into disarray, shifting the blame for the deed on Tyrion and taking the naive Sansa under his wing, utilising her to usurp her aunt Lysa's control of House Arynn as he seeks further power not through fighting, but through shrewdness and intelligence, in a manner that will have viewers loving the continued unpredictability, unclear motivations and moral greyness of one of the series most devious characters.
