Game Of Thrones Season 4: 10 Actors Who Knocked It Out The Park
5. Maisie Williams Arya Stark
If the season's final shot involves you in any way, you know you're going to be important later down the line. Then again, Maisie Williams has been knocking it out the park as Arya for years now, so it's a deserved reward. She truly is an outstanding child actress, and certainly one of the best on television. So with such eulogising, why isn't she higher than fifth? Well, it's simple Arya had a little less to do this year. Rather than getting captured by the Brotherhood Without Banners, captured by The Hound and utterly traumatised by the first-hand viewing her brother's wolf-corpse at the Red Wedding, she was simply on a ramble up to the Eyrie with her begrudging captor in tow. That's fine, really you've got to have light and shade in a storyline, but it did give Williams less chance to show off just why she's thought so highly of. What we got instead was still excellent though a series of contained character moments featuring Westeros's greatest odd couple. Both coldly cynical, nihilistic and bitter, watching The Hound and Arya trudge up north bickering all the while was a real treat. Capped off with the most dead-eyed moment we've seen from the younger Stark daughter refusing Sandor the gift of mercy Williams is so good in the part that we can't wait to see what she gets up to across the narrow sea.
