Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Red Woman'
4. Tyrion And Varys Rule Meereen

How do you rule a city that's missing its leader? One that was unstable to begin with, but with her disappearance has been plunged further into madness, and is under constant threat from a masked insurgency group?
It's something Tyrion and Varys are going to have to find an answer for, though they don't have any at this point. Instead, the episode briefly establishes the pair as the new power in Meereen, for whatever that's worth without Daenerys around.
Tyrion has tried being a Hand once, and it didn't exactly go well. Now it seems like he's about to go 0-2, as he contends with the fear that has spread throughout the city, a language barrier, and the presence of the Lord of Light, whose followers are making themselves very well known. It makes sense that the Meereenese people, after all that's happened, would turn to religion, but it throws up an intriguing question of what it means for Tyrion and Varys.
Still, even at this early stage, and whatever the power balance, it's great to have Peter Dinklage and Conleth Hill warming-up this double-act again. You could pair Tyrion with a Stone Man and it'd still be entertaining, but these two play off each other brilliantly, and an episode full of just their quips and scheming wouldn't be the worst thing the show could do.
