Game Of Thrones Season 6: 9 Book Storylines That Could Still Be Used

4. Siege Of Riverrun

Blackfish Brynden Tully Game of Thrones
HBO

What Is It? After the Red Wedding and the death of Robb Stark, the allied forces of Houses Lannister and Frey prepare to defeat any remaining opposition in the Riverlands. There's just one problem, however: Riverrun, and Brynden 'Blackfish' Tully'.

Blackfish anticipates the siege, gathering all the supplies necessary, and manages to hold the seat for a long period of time. Edmure Tully, captured at the Red Wedding, is brought out and threatened with death, but it's to no avail. Eventually Jaime Lannister and additional forces arrive on the scene, and Jaime treats with the Blackfish. Although he still refuses to relent, Edmure agrees to surrender, but not before the Blackfish escapes by swimming down the river.

Odds Of It Happening? Extremely likely, or so it would seem. We've not spent a lot of time in the Riverlands in recent seasons, which is slightly strange given how big an event the Red Wedding was. Now, though, it's been confirmed that Brynden and Edmure Tully will be returning for Season 6, and there doesn't seem much point to that unless it's for the Siege of Riverrun.

The latest trailer comes closer to confirming this, as we see Brienne and Pod at Riverrun, and then Jaime riding through a Lannister camp in what looks like the Riverlands. The fact that they're in the same location is all but confirmed when a mysterious hand grabs Pod, as it's 99% certain that's Bronn, who'll still be Jaime's travelling companion. This means we'll get the long-awaited Brienne and Jaime reunion, although the Lady Stoneheart element will probably be missing from that.
