8. Gendry Returns

As Game of Thrones hurtles towards its end game, it needs to start tying up some of the loose threads its been leaving around Westeros over the last few years. And no thread is looser than Gendry, who was sent rowing from Dragonstone to King's Landing back in Season 3, and has never re-emerged since.

Gendry's return hasn't been a well-kept secret - Joe Dempsie was spotted on the Belfast set last year - but that isn't going to ruin just how awesome it's going to be to have Robert Baratheon's bastard blacksmith back on the show.

There are various directions Gendry could go in once he does make his return - helping Sam make Valyrian steel, reuniting with Arya, or taking on Cersei are just some of the possibilities - although it does appear, based on the trailer, that he might go Beyond-the-Wall and help Jon in the fight against the wights (this is based on someone looking like they're wielding a large war-hammer).

Again, though, it's one where no matter how the event plays out, it's going to be huge. Gendry remains a beloved figure, both for his relationship with Arya and his good-natured, easy charm, and his comeback - something fans have been expecting/demanding for years - is going to be great to witness.
