Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 Episode Name Revealed: "Eastwatch"

3. Eastwatch Falls (Off-Screen)

We already know - thanks to The Hound's so far unexplained vision in the fire - that the Night King is advancing on Eastwatch-by-The-Sea, and while it is currently defended by Tormund, he doesn't have any Dragonglass or Valyrian steel in his armoury so it's unlikely they can really hope to defend the place.

Putting aside the magnificent horror of what that means for Tormund (because honestly, nobody should be ready for him to die), it means Eastwatch is going to be over-run pretty quickly, but it's also very, very possible that we won't even see it happen.

We know - thanks to the big trailers for the season - that Jon heads North with a party of heroes (possibly including Gendry, The Hound, Beric, Thoros and Tormund at least - who seems to survive the initial attack), and that they arrive to a sh*tstorm. Or they wouldn't be forced to stand in battle formation, like this...

For dramatic effect (and run-time), it would make sense that episode 6 sees the party arrive at Eastwatch too late, come upon a handful of survivors (including Tormund) and are faced with the entire wight horde. Perilously out-numbered, they have to enact their plan (which isn't to defend Eastwatch, but to retrieve something, or they'd have sent a bigger army).

For all of that to be correct, Eastwatch has to fall, and it has to fall without us seeing it.
