Game Of Thrones Season 7 Implications: What "Stormborn" Really Means

5. Grey Worm Is Dead Meat

Game Of Thrones Season 7 Trailer Grey Worm Missandei
HBO

The romantic sex scene between Grey Worm and Missandei might have proved to be one of the most well-received of the entire episode, with some of the finest writing on the show in ages (if you didn't fill up with emotion at Grey Worm's speech, you've a cold, stony heart), but it also felt like the end.

Grey Worm finding his humanity in a relationship with Missandei is the culmination of his arc, and there's a limit to where he can go from here. Sure, he'll be key to the forthcoming attack on Casterly Rock, but with his Big Moment behind him, he is unfortunately now entirely expendable.

There's very much the same sense of dread around this development as there was around Jon Snow sending Tormund up to Eastwatc-By-The-Sea. They're being used as pawn sacrifices to advance the plot, and it feels even more inevitable with Grey Worm admitting that Missandei is his weakness. Now that he has an emotional investment in her, he's dead meat.
