Game Of Thrones Season 7 Implications: What "The Queen's Justice" Really Means
15. Melisandre Prophesises Death
The episode began with Jon Snow arriving in Dragonstone after a surprisingly speedy journey to follow Tyrion's surprisingly speedy raven from last episode, with Melisandre creepily watching over things from the cliff top. Clearly knowing that she's a walking red flag, Varys actually did something of value, threatening her in his delightfully serpentine way to clear off and never return or else.
Uncowed, she stood her ground passively, admitting that she knows to remain hidden from Jon and Davos because of her past mistakes but that she must return to Westeros once more, as she has foreseen her death. And worryingly for Varys, she's seen his as well, which seems to momentarily terrify him.
Luckily for him, her prophecies seem to have about a 23% chance of actually coming off, so he could yet grow to a ripe old age. At least she has the good grace to accept that she's going to die, and seems to have no intention of running away from it.
Incidentally, if you're wondering what Varys has been doing in place of actually being a useful spy and helping Dany win the war, he's obviously been sunbathing, since he rocked up boasting a new shade of satsuma.
