Game Of Thrones Season 8: 15 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It

10. Euron Greyjoy

Euron Death
HBO

It may be that Euron is an excellent villain in the books, but whatever makes him a great character in George R.R. Martin’s novels is absent in the TV adaptation, because this Euron is just insufferable.

His arc: sleep with Cersei. That’s it. That’s his entire arc and he accomplishes that task in the first episode, and after that he’s just there to conveniently kill Rhaegal and brag about sleeping with Cersei. What excellent character development!

Oh, and he fights Jaime and almost beats him, even dying thinking that he’s “the man who killed Jaime Lannister”. That confrontation just felt wrong because the only connection these two characters have to fight each other to the death is that they both f**ked Cersei. Real emotional stakes right there.

If Euron had more motivation, and if more time was spent to develop him as a proper character, he could have been great. Instead, we got this space pirate entirely motivated by his sexual desires. At least Pilou Asbæk had great fun playing the part.
