Game Of Thrones: The Meaning Behind Every Episode Title (Season 2)

Episode 5 €“ The Ghost Of Harrenhal

This title is pretty cryptic to viewers of the show who haven't read the books, as it isn't really mentioned in the show other than through the title, but "The Ghost of Harrenhal" actually refers to Arya. While she is staying in Harrenhal and working as a servant to Tywin Lannister, Jaqen H'ghar tells Arya that he will kill three people in order to repay the debt he owes her for saving his life. Due to being an expert assassin, he carries out these murders without a trace, causing rumors of a deadly ghost to spread around Harrenhal, hence the title. Arya also calls herself the ghost of Harrenhal in the novel "A Clash Of Kings", as she is responsible for these deaths and is also hiding in Harrenhal under an alias, so is acting almost ghost-like in her attempt to stay out of sight.
