Game Of Thrones: The Meaning Behind Every Episode Title (Season 4)

Episode 4 - Oathkeeper

Jaime Lannister, in possibly his most redemptive moment to date, decides to send Brienne on a mission to find and protect Sansa Stark, allowing her to keep her oath to Catelyn Stark, of protecting Arya and Sansa. Jaime also gives her his newly acquired Valyrian Steel sword, forged from Ned Stark's sword, telling her that Ned Stark's sword should be used to protect his children. She names the sword Oathkeeper in light of this, both as a reference to the oath she made, as well as to the oath Jaime made to her to help in returning Catelyn's daughters, highlighting that he is not as dishonorable as everyone seems to believe. Meanwhile in Meereen, another oath is kept by Daenerys, who frees the slaves and crucifies all the masters of the city on the crucifixes previously used for punishing slaves, answering "injustice with justice".
