Games Of Thrones Season 7: What 'Eastwatch' Really Means
6. Gendry Is Back
Who needs a path to the throne when you've spent your downtime transforming from a nice guy everyman weaponsmith into a bad-ass, warhammer-wielding special team?
After years of speculation over how Gendry would come back into relevance, it seems that the suggestions that he would be used to forge dragonglass weaponry or Valyrian steel to fight the White Walkers were off-base. Instead, his relevance is that he's going to start up a short-lived, delightful dynamic with Jon Snow that mirrors the relationship between their fathers.
The transformation of Gendry into this fearsome warrior - with a weapon that makes him an immediately iconic fighting figure - definitely came as something of a shock (though there's no saying he won't also do some key smithing, of course), and it's going to be great seeing him and Jon grow as bros.
